UX and HCI: Welcome

My UX Research and Design Experience

From my psychology and research methods modules and the learning of design principles, I have acquired the skills necessary to understand users and their needs in order to create a design that will provide them with an effective and accessible experience when using a website or mobile application.

Having a base in psychology for my degree, integrating this into my learning of user experience has allowed me to be more interested and engaged in the design process. Gaining an understanding of human perception and behaviour, specifically in terms of technology use and design in relation to human computer interaction, has been extremely beneficial and allowed me to broaden my view on potential future projects or careers.

Having completed projects involving user testing, usability reports and the design of low fidelity and high fidelity prototypes, I have experience in the area of UX research and design. Some of these projects linked to real-world projects, which allowed for me to see how important an area this is to work in. Researching web accessibility in the HCI module allowed me to understand the importance of equal access for all web users and how design is an integral part of this. Throughout my course I have gained skills in research methods and design processes, as well as learning to use Photoshop, Illustrator and InVision.
