Cognitive Accessibility of Virtual Learning Environments
Within the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) module, I was tasked with creating a report on the current state of the field for a particular aspect of HCI as well as the interface design challenges faced in this field. Following the increased importance and use of virtual learning environments (VLEs) such as Moodle and Blackboard, I decided to research how accessible these VLEs are to all users.
The video below is a narrated presentation of my report on the cognitive accessibility of VLEs and discusses the various assistive technologies that can be used as well as the challenges faced by designers when creating accessible sites.

Web accessibility has become essential in all sites and applications and the broadness of disabilities must be considered when designing online content.
From alternative text to closed captions, websites and applications need to make themselves accessible to all users and this must be considered from the offset of the design process.
